The Scientific Journal of the Institute of Chemical and Biological Research reaches its 29th anniversary, since it was established as the official body for the dissemination of scientific activities of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy, to fill the void of this type of publication at the national level and that could over time become an international dissemination body. The institutional effort to achieve international recognition of the journal begins to reap its fruits, since after multiple and consistent efforts, important achievements have been made such as the following: Standardization of an editorial format within the framework of the American Psychological Association (APA); formation of the Editorial Board made up of professionals from the various disciplines studied at the Faculty; establishment of the virtual page of the journal (www.revistaiiqb.usac.edu.gt) on the website of the University of San Carlos; assignment of the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN); Acceptance in the catalog of the Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal (LATINDEX); and, recently, the efforts to request the inclusion of the Journal in the regional LILACS database, obtaining approval for its inclusion in this database.
