Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that affects the majority of the world's population. This bacterium is adquired during childhood, the transmission can be fecal-oral, oral oral, and through the contact with an infected person, causing symptoms that hinder their clinical diagnosis. With the aim to determine the risk given by the profession to acquire infection with Helicobacter pylori, this study was conducted in 435 professionals of biological chemistry, dentistry, and medicine. The IgG specific antibodies wr ere measured with ELISA method, as an indicator of the previous contact. The results obtained in this study were compared with the ones obtained in an occupational risk -free population, and no association was found between the profession and the presence of antibodies anti H. pylori (p 0.1421). likewise was discarded the relationship of gender to infection by H.priori (p 0.278). We concluded that to exercise the profession of dentistry, biological chemistry or physician docs not represent a risk for the presence of infection by H. pylori. Likewise there is no relation within the gender and the presence of infection by H. pylori (p 0.278).
