-Abstract
The socioeconomic conditions that have prevailed in the country since its independence have indirectly influenced the inability of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (USAC) to actively respond to the solution of priority problems, consolidating a sustained process of dependency, which only benefits minority sectors of the country. The fundamental activity of the USAC has been oriented towards teaching, with service and research activities being recently created. The emphasis on teaching has relegated research to a minimum level, so it has been systematically integrated into the teaching and service processes, leading to the belief that research is an activity that responds to personal interest and is independent of the work that, as responsible for higher education, corresponds to the university community. Research in the Faculty has responded to a general plan that leads to the execution of priority projects, applying existing research policies in a practical way and in accordance with the reality of the Faculty, the University and the Country.Downloads
