In order to develop a set of semiquantification reagents for iodine in solar and refined salt for quality control of spent salt in Guatemala, four methods were analyzed and experimented: titrimetric (iodide-iodate: HCI) and the other two They are colorimetric (pirogalol, paminophenol). Evaluating the sensitivity and reliability, it is determined that the four methods are suitable for the semiquantification of iodate in salt. But in direct quantification, trimetric methods are more sensitive than colorimetric methods. The method to implement it as a set of reagents is not determined. In the test carried out with solar and refined salt spent in the capital city, it showed iodine deficiency (below the minimum limit allowed by COGUANOR).
