Three native strains of Neolentinus ponderosas were studied, evaluating their mycelial growth in six culture media and two incubation temperatures. Likewise, the macro and microscopic characteristics of the colonies obtained under these conditions were described. All strains obtained their maximum mycelial growth when cultivated in EMA medium at 26°C. The color of the colonies was white or yellowish on the obverse, while on the reverse it ranged from white to yellowish and brown. The texture of the colonies in all cases was cottony. Microscopically, hyphae between 1.0 and 7.0 pm in diameter and fibulae were observed.
