The Scientific Journal of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy and the Institute of Chemical and Biological Research, reaches 30 years of existence in 2013, achieving during this time to position itself as the only indexed journal in the academic field of Guatemala and as an important means of dissemination in the Central American area. During this time the Scientific Journal has contributed to the dissemination of original research works in areas of health, industry, technology and environment, product of the projects of professionals from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy, other academic units of the USAC and recently of professors from research institutes in Costa Rica. It has not been an easy task to maintain the continuity of this informative medium, much less to achieve the quality necessary to be indexed in the Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals of Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal (LATINDEX), in the Index of Scientific and Technical Literature on Health in Latin America and the Caribbean (LILACS), in the Regional Library of Medicine (BIREME) and recently accepted in the second bibliographic content portal in the world (DIALNET), a task that has been possible thanks to the consistent work of the editorial staff, the support of the authorities and especially the contributions and interest of the authors to publish their results in our journal.
