In this study, the nutritional status of children who receive school breakfasts in four schools in the communities of Salitrón, Cor-ral de Piedras and San Francisco Chancó, from March 1998 to 1999, was evaluated. The type of study was quasi-experimental with a chronological series design, with four measurements being carried out. The first served as a control and was carried out before implementing school breakfasts, the second and third were carried out with breakfast already implemented. The last one was carried out after the vacation period, to establish comparisons between the measurements, to determine what would happen if school breakfasts were stopped. The data were tabulated and analyzed using the NCHS standard and the EPI INFO6 program, using the indicators of weight for height, height for age and weight for age.Downloads
