presentationAbstract
The Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy has been and will continue to be one of the leading scientific research entities in Guatemala, given its purpose and the training of its teaching and research staff. Proof of this are the countless results on national biodiversity and endemism, detection of secondary metabolites useful in medicine in organisms never before analyzed, antibiotic capacity of native plants, production of low-cost food alternatives, biological and chemical contaminants in lakes, rivers and municipal waters, polymer synthesis, diversity and distribution of pathogens for human health, nutritional quality of local foods, etc. The amount of research carried out to date is quite large and the approaches have been changing over the years since a fundamental characteristic of our scientific identity is the search for constant updating and adaptation of technologies, as well as the generation of our own techniques, which has been increasing step by step.
