Nutritional composition of "bread with sausage" available at the central campus, University of San Carlos de Guatemala.

Twelve hot dogs obtained from the central campus of San Carlos University of Guatemala were studied. The weight was registered and the content of macronutrients and minerals were determined. It was also registered nutritional facts from the beverages that are consumed with the hot dogs.
The results indicated that a hot dog weights 185 g and it has 276 Kcal, 1 g of protein, 30 g of carbohydrates, 11 g of fat, 1142 mg of sodium, among other nutrients.
The beverages provides between 167 - 260 Kcal. 42 - 68 g of carbohydrates, 18 - 105 g of sodium which represents the 15% of the recommended fat, more than the 20% of the recommended energy and more than the 50% of the recommended sodium.
The high percentages of energy, carbohydrates and sodium included in this food are characteristic of fast food, which is a risky factor of chronic disease.
