In the present investigation, the analgesic action and acute toxicity of infusions of Catopheria chiapensis leaf (liniment, Moringa oleifera seed (white paradise) and Lippia alba leaf (sage sija) that are popularly used in Guatemala were studied. The analgesic action was evaluated both at central and peripheral level, using for the first the Koster test in albino mice and for the second the Analgesimeter test in also albino rats. The results obtained provided sufficient evidence to affirm that the Catopheria chiapensis leaf (liniment) has central action with the dose of 750 mg/Kg of weight only (the doses evaluated were 750 and 1,000 mg/Kg of weight per plant for each of the tests). Likewise, the leaf infusion of this plant showed peripheral analgesic action only at doses of 1,000 mg/kg of weight. On the other hand, the seed of Moringa oleifera (white paradise) has no central or peripheral analgesic action at any of the doses tested, while the leaf of Lippia alba (salvia sija) showed both central and peripheral analgesic action at doses of 750 and 1,000 mg/kg of weight. Regarding acute toxicity, it was found that none of the infusions were toxic at the doses tested.Downloads
