    Abstract

The present study was conducted in the Mycology Laboratory of the Guatemalan Social Security Institute and in the Mycology Laboratory of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy of the University of San Carlos of Guatemala. Six cases of coccidioidomycosis with cutaneous lesions were analyzed, two of which were confirmed as primary cutaneous coccidioidomycosis, as both presented the characteristics of this type, as indicated by Wilson. The four remaining cases, corresponding to a review of patient control records, did not reveal trauma nor did they mention respiratory illness prior to the onset of cutaneous infection. These data are of interest for establishing the diagnosis and primary cutaneous infection. In addition, a review of the cases of pulmonary coccidioidomycosis diagnosed in the Mycology Laboratory of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy since 1963 is provided.
